Do you accept insurance?
Soma Lactation & Maternal Care is a private-pay practice. Detailed superbills will be provided for you to submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement.
Most insurance plans in the US are required by the Affordable Care Act (ACA) to cover comprehensive lactation support, counseling, and breast pumps without cost-sharing (no copay or deductible) for the duration of breastfeeding. We have included helpful resources under the "Resources" section to support you in navigating the reimbursement process.
Lactation services are also HSA/FSA eligible.
Why is a nurse practitioner beneficial for a lactation visit?
Not all lactation support needs to feel medical. But sometimes, medical insight makes an impact. Most visits focus on gentle, practical support. When medical concerns arise- pain, low supply, feeding challenges, postpartum recovery- you don't need a referral or a second appointment. That expertise is already built in, and I am here to help.
Are lactation consultations beneficial even if I am exclusively pumping?
Yes! Whether you are exclusively pumping or doing a combination of pumping/nursing, combination of breastmilk and formula feeding- we are here to help. We will do a thorough flange fitting, assess for comfort, make a pumping plan to help you reach your goals.
Can you help me learn to breastfeed/pump even if I am exclusively formula feeding?
Yes, we'd love to help you reach your goals.
